Coinciding with the long-awaited release of Where the Wild Things Are, Dave Eggers is pumping out a novelization of Maurice Sendak’s classic children’s book. Described as loosely based on the original, Eggers’ will undoubtedly inject his notorious style into each of the book’s 300 pages. Set to grace the shelves of bookstores this October, The Wild Things evades any concern of being an illegitimate child of Sendak’s masterpiece. Mostly because of Egger’s intense involvement in the production of the movie (read: he co-wrote the screenplay with Spike Jonze) not to mention the close relationship he’s cultivated with Sendak since starting the project.
